North Star Log Rolling
Based in Maple Grove, we offer classes, private events, birthday parties, and community activities to people of all ages. In the summer you will find us at the beach, in the pool, or even at your local community get together. In the winter we take the fun indoors to the Maple Grove Aquatic Center.
We started North Star Log Rolling to continue spreading the love and excitement for log rolling to people of all ages and abilities.
You are never too young or too old to give log rolling a try.
LOG ROLLING
Log rolling can be traced back to the 1800’s, during the great logging era in the United States and Canada. Hundreds of logs would be floating down the river and would become jammed. Each lumber company would hire rollers to go out and prevent, or clear, the jams. The loggers would challenge one another to see who could stay on the longest. The first Log Rolling Championship was held in 1898 in Omaha, Nebraska. Now current log rollers can challenge each other at the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin.
